Non-stop Whitethroat singing: on the roof of the cottage, the garden wall, and outside our bedroom window. The novelty of the later wears off by 0600.....
Last night the moon only rose near dawn. In the dark after midnight the Manx Shearwaters were incredibly noisy as they flew around overhead. I could see several flying in front of the stars, and picked out a couple in the light of the cottage: a fantastic sound and sight.
Lunchtime today a party of 15 Starlings paid a visit, and sat on the Deer Park wall for a while. 6 adults, the rest seemed to be youngsters, so presumably recently fledged. I checked them all for a Rosy, but no joy!
Sunday, off St Ann’s Head, two adult Mediterranean Gulls on a large patch of floating weed: really smart birds!
