Plumstone Mountain - Cuckoo and Yellowhammers

Yesterday a 5.1 mile drive to Causeway Plantation  allowed me to walk through the woods and onto the mountain. There were several Spotted Flycatchers in the plantation but none were working very hard, so I assume no chicks need feeding yet.

On the montain there was a Yellowhammer singing from the hawthorn tree in the south-west corner by the pony paddock and two flew off to the south subsequently, so presumably not nesting. On the heathland itself there were lots of Linnets and the Whitethroats seemed busy, but were generally quiet and Meadow Pipits were around, but silent, possibly because they were aware of the Cuckoo which was calling from the north side of the plantation.
