We also saw the pair of Shelduck with the 3 small ducklings yesterday. The always look so vulnerable...but thankfully were all present and correct early afternoon today:
Shelduck failed to raise any chicks here last year, and I can only recall once seeing little ones on the lagoon in the past (but then until moving here have not been a frequent visitor at this time of year). Their efforts to breed here are certainly frustrated by disturbance, so fingers crossed for these triplets!
A group of 14 Black-headed Gulls dropped in early afternoon, and at least 3 were still here this evening. Several adult birds amongst them, perhaps a sign of failed breeding further north.
