Marsh tits are back in the garden after their brief appearance in mid-June. With a family of sparrowhawks less than half a mile away, small birds are keeping their visits to the bird feeders as short as possible, grabbing a nut or seed and retreating to the safety of the beech hedge, as the adult female sparrowhawk makes regular passes. 



A party of 26 Canada geese have adopted the Millpond. A lot of people on the mudflats as well. The Med gull's moult is progressing nicely. Whimbrel heard from somewhere below the barrier, but we couldn't see them.
