A very blowy Dale Airfield held a nice flock of small waders, although it was difficult to hold our optics still - at least 45 Ringed Plover and 4 Dunlin present, along with 3 Wheatear. A gathering of gulls hunkering down in the wind, at least 2 Great Black-backed Gulls had Skokholm Island rings, we managed to read one, W:195. This bird was ringed as a chick there in 2017, and has been seen there every year since, including 10 days ago. In between it has been seen in Cornwall in 2017 & 2018 and in the middle of the Bristol Channel in July!
Down at the Gann, which was slightly more sheltered, a nice selection of waders: 2 Sanderling, 7 Ringed Plover, 3 Dunlin, 10 Black-tailed Godwits (6 juveniles), 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, and 1 Knot.
