A walk from Newport Parrog to the iron bridge this lunchtime produced a sizable wader flock on the sandspit by the dunes some roosting others trying to feed on the falling tide , approx 200 birds including Ringed Plover and Dunlins, unfortunately beach walkers etc kept them moving . The weather at sea brought a very sizeable gull roost on the mud flats further up , much washing and preening going on . Top side of the bridge had a couple of Common Sandpipers feeding , three Grey Heron roosting on the bankside vegetation, three Little Egrets feeding in the shallows and a Kingfisher actively feeding in one of the side streams to the main channel, which considering how coloured the water was catching quite a bit and at times it was doing a very good impersonation of a Kestrel, hovering for up to 10 seconds before diving . A large mixed corvid flock went over included in it a couple of Ravens.
