Walk from Kete to St Ann's Head, single bright Willow warbler in one of the cottage gardens, 20 Pied wagtail in the field with the cows opposite the lighthouse - should be Yellow wagtail any day now. 250 Starling, was the most this autumn, obligingly lined up on the telephone wires, frustratingly not a hint of anything slightly rosey. A juvenile Cuckoo sat on the same wires was a bit unexpected. 10 Curlew which drifted down to the Gann later. House Martin's still feeding young at two nests. Lots of corvids, mostly Rooks, in one field.
Met up with Derek at the Gann. 112 Oystercatcher, 32 Ringed plover, 30 Dunlin, 3 Ruff, 2 Turnstone and a Knot. 1cy Med gull. Best bird was an Arctic tern which after a good fly around eventually settled down to roost among the BH gulls and Oystercatchers. A few Pied wagtail and Rock pipit snatching some of the many sand flies. Numbers of Swallows passing through doing the same, a rough count of about 50. Cracking evening.
