Newport this morning

A nice selection in the sun.

On the main beach 12 Sanderling & a Dunlin. By the Boat Club (thank you Paul G) 17 Ringed Plovers, 7 Dunlin & a Knot. The Mallard flock included 6 Teal & 4 Wigeon.

With the gulls by the bridge the regular Greenshank & Whimbrel, plus a Bar T Godwit, another Knot & 3 Redshanks. 3 Little Grebes & 1 Little Egret. Amazingly I saw no Oystercatchers or Curlews on the estuary, though there were 30+ of the latter on the roost.

The gulls included an ad leucistic Herring Gull, which has been here before,  5 unringed Meds, 2 ringed 1cy Lesser BB (or Herrings), Yellow D=Z from Bristol & Yellow HD874 from N Germany, plus Black Headed Gull Black 2CHN, ringed as a chick near Birmingham last year, which has been in the area since December, with a side trip to the Teifi in July.
