Golden Plovers at Sprinkle Pill

From David Ord:

As a contribution to the International Golden Plover Count at the weekend, I counted the flock at the mouth of Sprinkle Pill from a series of photos of the birds at rest on the mudflats. It contained 1443 birds. This morning, the strong winds were discouraging all but the golden plover to venture out on the mudflats so, in the absence of anything else of interest and out of curiosity, I repeated the exercise. The whole flock now numbers 1702 birds so seems to be building rapidly. As I came away a peregrine flew over the fields in a bee-line for the flock. No sign of Lisa and Dave’s Green Woodpecker - shame, we have plenty of anthills in the garden that I’d like it to have a go at.
