First visit since lockdown, hurray! Quick look at the Gann in the hope some of the good birds might be still around but no luck. Good to bump into Derek who was just leaving and Andy S who was having an afternoon out as well. A walk across to, and around Dale village in the hope of a Black redstart similarly didn't produce the goods, a few Redwing and a couple of chacking Fieldfare on the walk over. A Blackcap and a Chiffchaff on the track up to the airfield. A splosh across the airfield threw up 40+ snipe and a cracking Short-eared owl gave excellent views. Otherwise 4 Curlew and a swirling flock of 2-3,000 Starling. Andy messaged me with news of a Ringtail at the mere so finished off with a visit. Within 5 minutes of arriving a few duck got up as the harrier appeared, cheers Andy. Stayed till dark but no sign of anything else. Just grateful to be out.
