Castlemartin Corse Marsh Harriers

Two marsh harriers in the air during my visit this morning - the 1CY female, and Rob's new bird from yesterday, a distinctively marked adult female - triangular creamy-white patches on forewings, and great views of  light underwings with dark fingers. She was much more intent on beating up the 1CY female than she was on hunting, though between them they kept large numbers of teal, mallard and lapwing on the move - they had repeated clashes over half an hour. Wing-tags wisely stayed out of this, he didn't show during my visit.

With hypothermia setting in I left them to it: as I headed back up the fields two peregrines were circling and calling overhead, also seen and heard by the Stackpole Home Farm guy as he checked the cattle. Earlier I met Matt from Court Farm below Castlemartin Church - he described a flock of greylags dropping in on Christmas day.
