Dodging the showers @ the Gann

Managed a few hours at the Gann yesterday afternoon, good job because today has been grim.  As well as a hatful of locally colour-ringed Oystercatcher, Curlew and Redshank, also managed to read 6 colour-ringed Mediterranean Gulls, I think a personal best at the Gann!  A brief summary:

Yellow AL.HE - a male, ringed as an adult on 16/5/2020 at Rehbach Gravel Pit, Leipzig, Sachsen, Germany (1,209km away). Seen at Kilnsea Wetlands, East Yorkshire, in August.

Red ZHT4 - ringed as an adult in the Czech Republic on 18/2/2019, also seen by me at the Gann on 13/2 and 17/12 this year. No other sightings.

White 3NNN - ringed as a chick in the Netherlands in 2015. Seen in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands since.  The UK sightings include West Angle Bay (Clive Hurford - 2016, 2017 & 2018) and the Nevern Estuary (Sam Baxter in 2016) as well as Hayling Oysterbeds, Hampshire (2019).

White 3842 - ringed as a chick in Belgium in 2018. Seen in France and the UK since, the UK sightings are all in Wales - Anglesey (2019) and Ceredigion (2 sightings in August and October 2020).

White 3AA0 - ringed as an adult in Belgium in May 2019.  Seen at the Gann twice in December 2019, Belgium in March & June, and Devon in July.

White 37L4 - my favourite so far!!!  Ringed as a chick in Denmark in 2014, the first re-sighting was by Sam Baxter at the Nevern Estuary in November 2015.  It then visited Sweden in 2017 and 2018, before rocking back up at the Nevern in February 2020.  Next up was Germany in August and September, before appearing here yesterday.  Keep your eyes peeled Sam!

To finish, a photo of the one of our Grey Plovers, showing complete nonchalance at the great catch by Oystercatcher no.33...
