A smart juvenile Glaucous Gull was on the beach at Monkstone Point at around 11am this morning. After seeking shelter from a very heavy rain shower I couldn't re-locate it but suspect it's probably still in the area. Large numbers of gulls between Saundersfoot and Monkstone Point today taking advantage of an abundance of marine invertebrates washed up by the stormy seas.
10 Purple Sandpipers and 18 Turnstone were in the rocks at Monkstone Point, plus about c60 Oystercatcher. Offshore 3 Red-breasted Mergansers, 1 Great Crested Grebe and a few groups of Common Scoter.
