It was quiet at Millin Pill yesterday a couple of hours before high tide and the sun made it difficult but the big flock of Golden Plover which Dave had at Hook went up towards the Rhos where there were also large numbers of Dunlin and Redshank and maybe 300 or so Lapwing and the dense impossible to count Golden Plover on the shoreline. A brief view of what were almost certainly 4 Spotted Redshank dropping into a channel too - never to be seen again.
At Little Milford too a Common Sandpiper in the first channel below the big house but not a lot else there and at Marloes Mere it was relatively quiet but the birds were hiding from the wind and probably undercounted as a result. I did find 2 Pintail and 8 Tufties and 930 Herring Gulls of which c.60% were 1st winter/ immatures a large percentage given the apparent poor breeding season on the nearby islands. Top duck count was Teal with 97 birds.
