There were 3 ringed gulls at Newport yesterday, all had been here before.
Common Gull White J5R1 had been ringed as a nestling in Norway in 2011. It was at Newport in Dec 2015 & 2018, Nov & Dec 2019 & reappeared on Nov 18 this year. In between it has been seen back in Norway, at most 7km from it's ringing site. Outside Norway there are no reports except from Newport.
Great Black Back Red W:055 was ringed as a nestling on Skokholm in 2014. It first appeared at Newport in October that year & since then I have seen it c90 times (including today). Apart from a trip to Cornwall in Feb '15 I believe it has never been reported away from Newport.
Black Headed Gull Black 2BAJ was also ringed as a nestling at Marsh Lane Nature Reserve, east of Birmingham in 2016. It first appeared at Newport in Feb 2017, & subsequently in Oct '17, Feb '18 & Feb & Dec '19. This is the first appearance this year. I'm not aware of any other reports from elsewhere.
