Despite, or perhaps because of, Storm Christophe we still have 2 female Brambling visiting. They choose not to use the feeder, preferring to pick up the bits of sunflower heart from the ground that others have tossed out. It’s happy days for them when a Coal Tit visits the feeder - they seem to sort through 3 or 4 hearts before finding one to their liking. There’s competition on the ground in the form of Chaffinches, which bully the Brambling when seed gets short. Then another visit from a Coal Tit and peace breaks out for a short while.
