Muck heaps

Lockdown birding has forced me, in a good way, to take more notice of the detail locally. Back in early December, watching the Lapwings and Golden Plovers at Llanrhian, i flushed a Snow Bunting from a stinking muck heap nearby. Since then the heap has attracted 3 Rock Pipits, a few Meadow Pipits, Linnets, a Pied Wagtail and Stonechat. The muck heap is a mile from the coast. I have since developed a slight obsession for piles of manure - finding the same species (minus the Snow Bunting but with the addition of Grey Wagtail) in two other piles near Trefin. Amazing what will keep you going...
10 Whooper Swans at Mesur y Dorth (Croes Goch) still, with 500 Lapwings, 200 Goldies and a Snipe in the same field. 2000 Goldies and 500 Lapwings at Llanrhian. Fulmars are back - they could be seen distantly, wheeling about their favoured cliff east of Porthgain.
