Withybush Pied Wagtail roost

We had to be in Haverfordwest late this afternoon so while there we watched the Pied Wagtails coming into their roost at Withybush Hospital. We probably missed some birds that could have arrived from the north, where our view was obscured by buildings but, by 17:00 hrs, an estimated 500-550 had settled at their usual roost site before it got too dark to see further arrivals.

We have been looking at roost-counts in Pembs Bird Reports, Graham Rees's county records archive and previous Blog-postings. Withybush roost counts go back to October 1984, but have been sporadic. The wagtail roost with the most regular counts being at Teifi Marshes. Altogether, Pied Wagtail roost counts have been recorded at at least 17 sites in the county since 1930.

If you have any additional roost counts they would be welcomed.
