Gann

The last week or so has been fairly quiet for us at the Gann, the general theme being numbers of birds declining as they depart for locations further north.  We have had up to 5 Great-crested Grebe and 2 Great Northern Diver in the bay, and on the 12th around 300 Golden Plover were still using the Sandpit Fields although we haven't seen them since the fields were ploughed over the past few days.

The (a) breeding plumage Black-tailed Godwit was still here on 9th, and we have also had a single Knot, the lingering sinensis Cormorant, and up to 14 Mediterranean Gull (but not a single colour ring).  Skokholm ringed Great Black-backed Gull W:358 has been a regular, and today we managed to read green B:162 (which has probably been present a little while) - an old friend who was ringed on Ynys Gwylan in Gwynedd and seen by us here in March 2020, and we also saw her (it appears small so we are going with she!) on Dale Airfield and on Grassholm in August 2020.
