This afternoon at low tide a second calendar year Iceland Gull was on the river in the Reserve along with 1 rh Goosander c10 Teal and the 3 Black-tailed Godwits. Along the main track 6+ Willow Warblers, 4+ Chiffchaffs and 2 Blackcaps singing.
Siskins;- good numbers around Boncath and just across the Teifi. c50% are local breeding birds already showing signs of breeding activity and egg laying. Many unringed birds have good fat deposits, the sign of distance still to travel. Some of these fat birds are weighing over 16g compared to our local breeding birds which weigh c11 -14g. Last year the first fledged young were around from the 29th April.
