After yesterday's no-show, both marsh harriers were back at the Corse today, the tagged 2CY male and the 2CY female. I saw the male first as he soared overhead - these three pictures of him are all of the same bird, and underline the well-known i/d pitfalls possible with female and young male marsh harriers if seen in Europe on migration or out of context - see page 232 of Dick Forsman. The underside of the tail looks light or dark according to the angle of the light, likewise the light patches on the underwing.
After his visit to the Corse on 24 March, Wing-tags was seen in the Marloes area on 26 March. Now he's back here. This really is a regular commute.
They were joined briefly by a red kite, which drifted off inland - at one point I had all three in the bins at the same time. I could hear chough somewhere on the Kilpaison side. I forgot all about reed warblers.
