North Pembs woodlands

Full day checking the woods for early summer migrants with Paul. Started well at Pengelli with 2 and possibly a third male Pied flycatcher all at the Panteg end. Pentre Ifan and Ty Canol were rather quiet for migrants, but seemed to be good numbers of Mistle thrush here. Dropping down into the Gwaun we had brief but good views of a pair of Pied flycatchers and a fly over female Goshawk

Pantmaenog
next gave us a first Cuckoo up behind the quarries. Last stop Ty Rhyg, another cuckoo was a bit more showy, a Willow tit, a spanking bright red male Crossbill and a first Whitethroat of the year. No Redstarts today, despite 3 singing males here on Sunday. Another week perhaps and there should be a few more birds around.
