Wednesday

An evening wander at Marloes Mere failed to locate the Yellow Wagtail, but the fields between Runwayskiln and the coast held at least 11 White Wagtail and 10 Wheatear (all big looking Greenland types, the males varying shades of orange underneath).

A nice surprise was a Whinchat in the scrubby field at the coastal end: my early entry for rubbish photo of 2021 follows (it was chased off by a territorial male Stonechat, that's my excuse):

The yellow ringed Oystercatcher X4 was ringed in South Dublin Bay, Ireland, on 25th January 2020, being at least in its 3rd year at that point.  It was seen in Dublin in March and October 2020, before being seen at the Gann (as well as our sighting, it was independently seen by Bill Aspin, and was still here yesterday).  Amazingly it is the first Dublin Bay ringed bird to be seen in Wales, and the project has been running since 2013!

Gann highlights yesterday included 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Bar-tailed Godwit, 30+ Whimbrel, 16 Dunlin and 16 Ringed Plover.
