On arrival at the car park we were just in time to spot a brown female Cuckoo shoot past being chased by a couple of meadow pipits.Out on the moor what sounded like two separate males were calling.
With the other reports of Cuckoo on here and another from North Pole, Pencaer, can we hope to a recovery. When I first arrived to live here in the 1990's they were very common, their calls reverberating around Pencaer throughout the late spring and early summer. By 2005-ish they had all but disappeared.with some years when none were heard at all. Nothing is more evocative of spring and Summer in the countryside than the call of the Cuckoo, lets hope
