Osprey, Gann. Marsh harrier, Marloes Mere

The Osprey flew down from Mullock Bridge just after 2pm, briefly settled on the old pines before swooping down from its perch and snatching a small mullet. It then returned to its perch to eat. Other birds: 14 Redshank 4-5 Greenshank, 2 Dunlin, a Blackwit and a Barwit. 3 Little grebe and a teal.

Paul and I bumped into Ian S and the three of us headed to Martin's Haven. Bit blustery but had a good look around Martins Haven and the Deer Park, as Sash mentions there were a few Willow warblers in the withys also a Spotted flycatcher. The young Kestrel was hunting and caught a large beetle by the lookout.

Marloes Mere next: the juvenile Marsh harrier appeared at 5pm flushing 7 Snipe (looks like it's got a dangly leg). Otherwise: 12 Teal, a young Shoveler and about 20 Mallard, duck numbers should start to build in the next few weeks. Green sandpiper flying around and settling in the North irrigation pool. Adult male Kestrel. A Willow warbler and couple of Blackcaps.
