Richard’s Osprey

As I was walking along the lane just north of Carew Millpond late this morning an Osprey flew over. It headed over to Carew Quarry where it circled briefly and was mobbed by an immature Peregrine. Two Red Kites also flew over  attracted by grass cutting in nearby fields.

No doubt the Osprey was the one seen earlier by Richard Ellis as it flew from the direction of the Carew River just upstream from West Williamston. It headed off North West towards the  Cresswell  River and beyond that the Eastern Cleddau. So, quite possibly, a wandering bird from the Landshipping area.

A Greenshank was on the mud at Carew Millpond.
