Kilpaison

A couple of greenshank and three ringed plover came and went in my first hour, as I was too early - then John Stephens arrived and things picked up. A whimbrel settled on the shore and promptly went to sleep; dunlin and ringed plover started to arrive in greater numbers, along with 8 knot, two sanderling and a black-tailed godwit. No little stints, unfortunately. All the usual stuff including 4 little egrets, 5 great-crested grebe out in the bay, wigeon, teal, 9 mute swan, 14 cormorant.....One of the sanderling had a long bath and preen quite close. A kestrel flew past us, and a ringed plover was aggressively mobbed by a rock pipit, bizarrely.
