From Peter Royle: We finally tracked down the Cattle Egret today, having never managed to locate the long-staying individual several years ago which was virtually on our doorstep! We were pretty sure we had a very distant view of the bird yesterday feeding with the cows in the field at "Crabhall Corner", but today was better. A flash of white wings over the hedge whilst driving down the road towards Mullock Bridge from Milford required investigation; peering through the hedge, there it was perched on the back of a cow! By the time the photo was taken it had taken up a more usual pose. The bird was in the big field with cows just above the upper part of the saltmarsh on the northern side.
