Llys-y-fran

Paul and I had our first visit of the autumn. Looks like there's some work going on at the dam, with the levels the lowest I've ever seen, which resulted in some of the gulls (couple of 100) roosting on the steep banks reminiscent of a coastal cliff scene. The roost began to build steadily, with c600 at 5pm, c2,000 at 5:30pm, ending up with c4,500 at 6pm. Majority were LBB including a possible candidate adult Intermedius. Very few BH gull (c30), 30 Herring gull, 4 Yellow-legged gull (3 adult, 3 w), 2 adult GBB and 2 adult Common gull. Otherwise, a red-headed Goosander, 3 GC grebe, 2 young herons, a Red kite and 3-4 Redwing. A little flock of 25 Chaffinch were feeding on seeds on the exposed banks, oh and a Common sandpiper.
