Broomhill Burrows, Castlemartin Corse

The last of my 3 WEBS counts - Broomhill Burrows Ponds (the former sand quarry behind Fresh West) normally yields 1 snipe, but today there were 21 teal.

I carried on along the north side of the Corse (farmer's permission) to a point NE of the hide - you can see the entire length of the Corse in both directions from here, excellent vantage point for raptors when there are any, but wetland birds are too far away to count accurately. Though it was clear duck, lapwing and golden plover numbers had built up since our WEBS count at the end of last week and a party of 10 shoveler were flying about. There was a lot of movement, but no sign of any raptors causing it. Lots of water rail in different parts of the reedbed, and at least 3 Cetti's warblers singing.
