Slebech Starling roost

Starlings, which initially roost in Slebech reedbed when they arrive during Oct/Nov., have seemingly already switched to roosting in the Miscanthus (Elephant Grass) fields south of the A40. Numbers arriving at the roost are probably not particularly large yet, presumably due to the continuing mild weather?

There is usually a small Redwing/mixed thrush roost in shrubbery on the south side of the Eastern Cleddau, opposite the reedbed, but this evening there were not many around. No obvious Firecrests heard either.

Judging by the number and distribution of Water Rail calls coming from the extensive reedbed this evening suggests that there could be quite a size-able population in there at the moment.
