Castlemartin Corse

Plenty of water about, snipe popping up everywhere. Lapwing and golden plover overhead, grey heron, lots of water rails, one Cetti's heard, plus all the usual reed buntings, stonechats, linnets, skylarks, song thrush and blackbird, etc.

A marsh harrier was hunting intermittently, rather distant views - 1st winter female by the look of her. She spent 15 minutes perched in a blackthorn bush while I watched. Also a sparrowhawk shot past the hide and perched briefly on one of the fence posts left there for the purpose - I think a first-winter female. She flew off down the Corse, putting loads of snipe up from the fen meadow and the edge of the reedbed.
