St Davids Airfield then and now!

During a visit last week towards dusk, we saw Water Rail, Teal Wigeon, and Shoveler but no swans. A male Hen Harrier put in a brief appearance but the real surprise was a mini-murmuration of a couple of hundred Starlings that appeared to be roosting in the reedbed towards the eastern end of the Airfield.

This afternoon it was dreek as the Scots would say, with overcast skies and on and off drizzle. But the dog needed its constitutional so we had a quick look around the airfield. A Song Thrush was practicing a few notes, Highlight was a Great White  Egret that lifted out of the reedbed heading north, possibly towards Llangoffan. Otherwise I was not hanging about but a pair of Bullfinches showed in the gorse adding a little colour to an otherwise dull day.
