Kevin and I had a planned trip to the Gann today to try for the Caspian, a little before we arrived, news from, Dave “the gull” Astins, the Caspian was present on the beach.
We saw Dave out on the beach (he did phone us as we arrived at car park and suggested wellies which we didn’t have) so paddling it was. Dave got us on the gull and it was truly a gorgeous gull.
Even Kevin uttered the words nearly wants me to get in to gulls!
Anyway a great bird worth the wet feet, very cropped photo (with no head features) as I was focussed on the primaries/mirrors which projected well beyond the tail, with pale/flesh coloured legs and slightly darker shade mantle, the small dark eye and the clean velvet white head evident with a slightly smaller bill (in length) than I expected.
