Stackpole Head/Bosherston Lakes this morning

A blustery morning on Stackpole Head produced several wheatears, including some displaying males back on territory. One near Mowingword was chased off by a cracking adult male black redstart who was also behaving territorially, although this one was almost certainly a migrant passing through. A few hundred guillemots and small numbers of razorbills were on the cliffs.

Four choughs were later noted feeding in the dune grassland.

A walk up the eastern arm of Bosherston Lakes produced not less than 12-15 chiffchaffs, including small flocks of 3-6 feeding in the low lakeside vegetation. These had almost certainly recently arrived, probably this morning. The local raven was on its nest as were the herons.
