Gann

A lovely morning as high tide approached at the Gann.  Wader numbers (and composition) change every day (and between morning and evening), this mornings selection were 2 Sanderling (only seen 1 this spring before today), 7 Bar-tailed Godwit (peak count), 2+ Whimbrel (been a steady passage with flocks up to 20 at a time), a Redshank, 6 Ringed Plover (max. 25 on 25th April), 19 Dunlin (max. 60 on 2nd) and around 45 Oystercatcher (yellow X4 was still here on 2nd but couldn't see it this morning).  Very few gulls but the single small gull that was present was the first Mediterranean Gull for some time (a 2nd calendar year, 2CY).

Amongst the passerines a single Wheatear, and the pair of Stonechat are surely feeding young but being very careful not to reveal the location of the nest.  I can't remember Stonechat breeding here before.
