From the causeway by Carew Mill this morning I could see an Osprey flying over the Carew River. Curtailing my walk around Carew I headed to West Williamston. No sign of the Osprey so I walked out to the point at the far, north, end of the reserve and found an Osprey perched on a low post some way off on the south side of the Cresswell River.
I then walked back to the south end of the reserve where there was another Osprey fishing down towards Tything Barn. It came quite close and I could see it was an immature bird. It made it’s way up towards the north end of the river harassed briefly by BH Gulls and making one, unsuccessful, plunge before heading up towards Cresswell and out of sight.
Also seen - 12 Little Egrets, 3 female Pintail and 4 Wigeon.
