Couple of hours before dusk around the mere which after being a dust bowl a few weeks ago is holding at least enough water to accommodate some waterfowl. 94 Mallard, 8 Teal, 5 Shoveler, 6 Moorhen, 2 Little grebe and a coot. 2 Merlin were bathing side by side in a pool out on the mere. Lots of large gulls (c500) feeding in the surrounding fields and dropping onto the mere to bathe, mostly adult Herring gulls, managed to read some or parts of a few with Skokholm rings, the bits above water anyway.
