Red-breasted Flycatcher

A 1CY Red-breasted Flycatcher was amongst the willows close to the entrance to the track down to the sewage works at Porthclais this morning.

Apart from this and a flock of Long-tailed Tits the valley seemed devoid of small birds. A possible reason - 3 showy Sparrowhawks in residence at the sewage works- repeatedly disappearing into the trees only to emerge a few minutes later chasing each other above and through the trees.

At the other end of Porthclais, in the blackthorn bushes to the west of the inlet, a female Ring Ouzel completed the full house of 6 Turdus sp in the valley.
