Whoopers at The Gann

I arrived at the Gann at 11.30 and was immediately alerted to some bugling from across the bay. Four Whooper Swans were flying high southwards along the river and out across the haven towards Popton Fort. They had not been around 20 minutes earlier when I scanned the marsh from Mullock farm, so apparently heading straight for Carew. Except fot the swans it was fairly quiet apart from 14 Golden Plover that finally settled beside the river and four Snipe that dropped into the lagoon.

There were no signs of American visitors at Marloes, but it was good to see a Kestrel at Watery Bay and a female Merlin sitting on the mud on what used to be Marloes Mere.
