Paul and I had a look at both sites this afternoon. Rosebush: No sign of Alison's RND. Assuming it might be last years bird returning, which appeared to go absent at times I wonder where else it might go, no sign at Llys-y-fran. There were many more dabbling duck than we're used to seeing. 50 Mallard, 3 Teal, 2 Gadwall and a 1w Pintail. Something, probably a fox, flushed them from the top end out on the main body of water. Just a drake Tuftie and a 1w Goldeneye the only diving duck. No grebes just a single Moorhen. Llys-y-fran: Not the easiest of roosts to check, bright sunshine, heavy ripple and wind over our shoulders meant the gulls were facing us. 6 Med gulls ((4 adult and 2 3cy), 3 YLG (2 adult and a 3/4 cy). A quick count at 4:30pm gave 3,500 LBB with numbers swelling considerably until the water was covered when we left, estimated easily double maybe treble that amount, with BH gulls coming in really late in big numbers. Tawny owl hooting as we left.
