Castlemartin Corse

No two days the same - around 1500 lapwing and 700 golden plover at the inland end, and plenty of snipe - I flushed 34 on my transect.

The stock dove flock has been attracted by the seed crop planted especially for farmland birds, 50 birds in this shot. I encountered more singles further inland. Also a group of 4 chough on the ridge of Gupton Farm which flew down to the Corse roughly level with the hide.

Corse regulars will be delighted to hear I met a party of volunteers under Haydn taking down the last 20 metres of hedge that have blocked the view east from the hide up to now. This goes some way to making up for the hide being in the wrong place - all it needs now is a screened approach.
