The Trehill Farm fields felt a bit quiet this weekend: we could not find any of the big flocks of Lapwing, Golden Plover, finches and Skylarks that were around even a few weeks ago. But some nice birds are still around (and Marloes Mere is as full of water as we can recall):
- a female Merlin bombed around the garden for over five minutes yesterday. We could not see her catch anything, but she gave it a really good try.
- a really dark brown ringtail Harrier (I presume Hen) was working Marloes Mere yesterday afternoon. It seemed to be going for Snipe rather than duck. On Friday we saw what seemed to be the same bird heading out to Skomer, presumably to roost, late afternoon.
- Fewer Snipe on the Trehill Farm fields, but two Ringed Plover were calling on the Martin's Haven Car Park field at dusk yesterday.
- A Red-throated Diver coming into summer plumage off Wooltack Point in the North-flowing tide this morning.
