From Graham Brace:
There was a red throated diver on the lagoon at the Gann yesterday still pretty much in winter plumage. It paddled within 20 yards of us offering fine close-up views and, Sod's Law, I didn't have my camera with me. Also present was a flock of 22 snoozing oystercatchers with a resting cormorant and a group of 17 wigeon. 6 teal were in the shadow of the reeds at the western end and a little egret waded around at the eastern end. On the islands were 2 redshank and an assortment of gulls including numerous immature individuals, perhaps a dozen black headed gulls but no Meds. Other than a rock pipit and two female stonechats there was nothing much else around while we were there. The tide was high so there were no birds at all along the length of the beach. I was a little disappointed not to see a wheatear or two.
Cheers...
