Gann

Lots going on at the Gann at the moment, it can seem quiet at times though!  Early evening today 11 species of wader: Ruff (1 male), Grey Plover (1), Black-tailed Godwit (11 over), Bar-tailed Godwit (1 on the beach, and then 10 had dropped into the back of the lagoon by the time I reached Crabhall), Whimbrel (17+), Curlew (3+), Oystercatcher (26, 5 with colour rings), Redshank (2), Ringed Plover (12), Dunlin (7) and Turnstone (2).

11 Black-tailed Godwits drew my attention by calling, they circled the top of the lagoon and then headed back out into the bay

Shelduck are here in good numbers, 17 this evening including a pair that look ready to breed.  How many pairs will we have this year? 7 Mallard bombing around give hope that the breeding that occurred in 2020 will be repeated.  At least 7 Wheatear at the end of the spit all looked spot on for Greenland, in both appearance and habits (2nd half of April, regularly perching on gorse etc).

Small gulls have dropped right off: a single Mediterranean Gull, 3 Common Gulls and 2 Black-headed Gulls (all 2CY).
