"Our" swallows seem to have arrived today - a quick whizz through the ex-army pumphouse, in one window and out the other, and a bit of singing on the electricity wires - all great to see and it was lovely to welcome them back. There were up to 5 milling around - not sure whether they all had eyes on the one building. In the past, after a brief arrival visit they disappear for up to week, presumably to feed up ready for courtship and nest location battles. Goodness knows where they have spent the last couple of days of full-on gales. Incidentally this is quite an early date for our swallows to arrive - usually it is about the 17th.
