Two female Whinchat appeared to be already feeding young, and 3 male. Cuckoos seem to have already gone a bit quiet with 1 or 2 distant calling birds and not the hive of activity of a few weeks ago. A stunning male Redstart with a beak full of caterpillars by the laburnum-clad walls. Otherwise usual birds, Lesser redpoll, Whitethroats, and Reed bunting. Couple of Red kite drifting around and lots of swallows sweeping low. Green hairstreaks flitting around the hawthorn, holly and rowans.
