A visit to the inland end of the Corse, below Castlemartin Church. There were still some wet patches on the flood plain, so a few wetland birds about - 2 Canadas, 4 greylags, 8 mallard and two shelduck, as well as around 50 herring and 6 lesser black-backed gulls. Just one wader, a solitary lapwing.
6 warbler species, though no repeat of last year's lesser whitethroat in this area. At least 3 Cetti's - they must be into double figures for the site as a whole. Best of all was a 2CY female marsh harrier, who was being vigorously mobbed by assorted corvids. Not a bird we've seen here previously, and, like the 1 then 2CY tagged male who delighted us in winter 2020-21, on her gap year. That bird, Wing-tags, was safely back in Norfolk when last heard of, after a remarkable odyssey.
