Rob Lewis took this of the purple heron in the reeds near Starman's Hall last night on his phone, notable for being the only image so far of the bird on the ground.
Today at the hide with Caroline (on her first visit since finding the bird on Saturday) and Adam, a brief and unsatisfactory view of our bird heading inland, from where it did not return in over 2 hours.
Good views of the drake garganey - it tried to rest on the pool next to the hide but kept being chased off by the coot, as Brian S who was leaving as I arrived observed. Birds take it in turn to sing from the bramble patch in front of the hide - sadly the Cetti's (which have a thing about being photographed) stuck to deep cover in the hedge to the right. Grasshopper warbler(s) singing strongly in the fen meadow.
