South Hook / Ty Rhyg / Other recent highlights

Two singing Lesser Whitethroats were the highlight of a stroll on the footpath round the back of South Hook this morning, with Bullfinch, Greenfinch and several Whitethroats being among the other birds present. This area can be accessed via a footpath running alongside Milford Haven golf course, or by a path through fields from the Herbrandston direction, and is one where I have heard and seen Lesser Whitethroats before. On Saturday, I spent much of the morning at Ty Rhyg, where the male Cuckoo was still present, and other birds included four Lesser Redpoll, and plenty of Siskin.
On Thursday, it was good to see a singing Tree Pipit in Canaston Woods, and to come across a Marsh Tit and two Wood Warblers in Minwear Woods. The previous Saturday, I encountered three Redstarts, two of them males, on a walk past the quarries in Rosebush.
